I Live In Oceanside, Ca- Landlord Changed Locks Without Court Delivered Eviction Notice
Location: Oceanside, CA.
Hello, I've fallen into hard times and could not make my rent in August due to care repairs. I tried to work with the leasing office but corporate is very firm, and would not accept rent late. I got a pay or quit notice, and they told me i can only pay with certified funds., i told them I could not meet the deadline to pay so will surrender my apartment. I also then said i understand that after this day x/x I know they have to take next steps in the eviction process and that I will still keep them posted on my progress. I had until the 11th to move out before they start the eviction process, and I told them that i scheduled movers for the afternoon of the 15th and will return keys on the 16th. On the 14th, I recieved a letter on my door " intent to enter" for " possession of apartment". They took the apartment back and the leasing office won't respond to me on how to retrieve my things, and corporate keeps hanging up when I try to reach them. Is what they did legal? What should I do? Thank you in advance.
