I'm An Assistant Manager- Can My Relative Really Get Guardianship Over Me Like They're Threatening?

Location: Mississippi

I work. I am an assistant manager. Pay is shit, hours are shit, but it's a job. I am autistic. I was not taught to function independently as a child and as an adult I had a very steep learning curve when my mother died- you can not know what you were never taught.

A relative is threatening to "get guardianship" because I dumped a grand on vet bills for a cat they let out on accident who then got hurt. I am about to sell a house I inherited- it's under contract - and I suspect this is money related.

I do not *think* that is how it works but am admittedly unsure.

If they try can I just, like, ask my manager for proof of employment and give that to a judge? I'm not the smartest but, you know, I function. I'm skilled enough to run my own store, I just don't want to (we'd inevitably be short staffed at some point and I don't want to do 15 hour days, I want a set schedule I can follow).

Theirs no way they successfully get guardianship as long as I show up, right?
