I Was Offered An Unspecified Amount Of Rent Credit And Then Received A Check Much Later For A Much Lower Amount Than Expected. Is It Worth Fighting?
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
I had a late move in because I found the studio apartment had insect pests (after I had already signed the lease). I was offered rent credits, but the amount was never specified. It was never given to me, and the owner/management company ignored my emails/calls for months. Found out recently that the place had been sold and the new owners say they were never given the credits so the old owners will have to pay.
I was just sent $100.00 without any direct communication (new owners talked to them I guess, pretty sure old owners blocked my number) but I was hoping for closer to half a month of rent which would be around $600-700.
Also they recently charged me rent (was on auto-draft) that I couldn't disable because they blocked my login on their site after the sale, so I had to pay rent twice (to new owners too). Have to see if/when they send it back after the weekend.
Thinking I'm SOL at this point but wanted to make sure I guess. Thanks
