Ice Detained My Dad Today In The Morning On His Way To Work

Hi All,

As the title says my dad (he’s Salvadoran) got detained by ice today in the AM on his way to work.

I am the oldest (I’m DACA) and the whole day Ive called lawyers, checked the locator site and he was finally on there earlier this afternoon. I called the detention center to get the A number they could not give it so I waited for my dad to call, I did also call the Salvadoran consulate for guidance but all they could do was request the A number from the detention center (which I appreciate this was before my dad called me and provided it).

One of the lawyers I was able to get ahold of that was recommended by a friend told me that my brothers (both over 21) cannot petition for my dad. That we have a slight chance with filing asylum. I am still going to call another lawyer tomorrow, but I need guidance on what to ask when I call these lawyers, I am not sure what the next steps should be in every aspect,

If this helps my dad has nothing on his record, came in illegally in the 90s to get out of El Salvador but didn’t file asylum then as he didn’t know / have resources to help. Last year he paid for FOIA and there were no records per the letter he received.
