In Need Of Urgent Help

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Long story short my company had hired a 50 year old man who spent 16 years in jail and recently got out. He was banned from 3 separate locations within my job since he started 4 years ago for sexual harassment and assault. This coworker recently joined my department 6 months ago and began causing issues as soon as he came into the department. I have continuously told my supervisors, managers, boardmen, etc and nothing was ever resolved. Just bottomless promises or them telling me to hang in there. Things continued to escalate until the other day he came in yelling at me about accusations in my face so I pull out my phone to start recording, I try showing him what the predicament was that he created in his head and he snatched my phone off me cutting my hand, then holding my phone away from me and holding me back with his other hand while trying to go into my phone to delete the video but the phone locked thankfully. I had to argue and try to forcibly get my phone back off my coworker as he continued to threaten to break it until he got in my face and I snatched my phone back off him. He then threatened me saying if I don’t delete the video it may not be today, it may not be tomorrow but he will take care of business and it won’t be pretty. I managed to get away, call police and showed them the video. Do I press charges or let my company handle the situation? Considering the guy spent 16 years in jail for assault I am concerned for my safety. But I’ve never stepped foot in a court house, and this guy is known to be a liar and try to make things “racial” that really aren’t. I just don’t know whether i should file for a pfa and not press charges or if i should go forward with pressing charges. Please any advice is appreciated!
