Inherited Vehicle; Cut Out Of Family Indiana

Card image cap

Location: Indiana

My great-grandfather passed away last week. My mother, my cousin, and I were cut off from any communication with him for the entire last year. We did not know he was sick, they didn’t call us to say he died, and we were not invited to the funeral. We, luckily, found out about it and were able to go and no one talked to us while we were there. In fact, my great-aunt (his daughter) has deleted us from Facebook a month prior.

My grandmother (his other daughter) died in 2008 and left me in her will both of her vehicles, a truck and a bug. As I was a minor, my mother took the bug and my great-grandfather kept the truck with the intention that, once he stopped driving or passed away, the truck would be returned to me. Is there a way to get my truck from my great-aunt? She is not replying to text messages from my mother. Will we for sure have to hire an attorney for this, or is there anything we can do beyond texting her about it?

My mom is on the deed to his house, will she get notified when it reaches probate?
