Iowa Labor Law Questions

Hello, I'm not sure if I added the correct flair, but I am writing to request any clarity Iowa lawyers may have related to some concerns.
I am writing on behalf of my significant other who works for a construction company in Iowa but resides in Nebraska. I don't think is probably important if the company is listed as an Iowa business but figured all precise details may be helpful.
This construction company primarily deals with concrete and pipe work and on the more minor aspect doesn't allow lunch breaks, which seems crazy for a heavy labor job, but we looked and saw the state doesn't mandate lunch breaks or break time, apparently. The boss is also extremely avusive-like swearing and calling everyone racial slurs, accusing people of not doing a good job as they work saying they're stupid mf'ers. He employs undocumented workers so my SO doesn't want to cause issues for the laborers trying to make a living but he's clearly exploitative. He also doesnt use trench guards, which could kill someone. He also pushes them to dig and not check for lines to confirm city gas and internet and water are marked correctly.
If more info is needed please ask, we just wanted to see if there is some legal issues. Thank you!
