Is It Illegal For An Employer To Lie About Your Employment Status?
Location: Missouri
I work for a large security company as a guard.
For four months my job has had me jump through hoops after pulling me off my job site for something that was not my fault. (will provide details on that if they are needed)
I was assured by HR and several managers that I was NOT fired and given tasks to complete in order to get my post back or told that I just needed to wait for a spot to open up.
I've been in contact with HR and management this entire time and they continuously told me I was still employed and they would put me back on the schedule as soon as everything was done.
So... Now that everything is clear the site managers called and told me there is a spot open and they are ready to bring me back. I was told to call HR and let them know. When I called HR I was informed that I had been fired months ago (despite the same exact HR person telling me I was still employed when I talked to her previously). She was very misleading and used words like I wasn't "in the system" and I had to push to get her to admit I had been fired. t
They will not tell me the date I was fired or who fired me ...
Is this legal? if I had known I was fired I would have gotten another job months ago I wasted months due to them telling me I just needed to do one more thing or wait a little longer.
