Is This Illegal In Pa
Location: Pennsylvania So I work at a place which has been having issues finding employees. They pay kinda low and the work normally has people quit that day or after a week or two.
I’m a manager who is set to take over the store once we get more employees and an assistant manager, my district manager and direct boss told me the owner instructed him not to hire any more fat people. He hired a guy that was kind of robust not really fat but a little round.
I am pretty sure not hiring a fat person for being fat is kind of a crappy thing in general but I am not certain if it violate any other laws. I know not hiring based on race, sexual orientation and gender are illegal but can a business not legally hire people for being fat.
I’ll also say being fat doesn’t mean the person would be unable to fulfill the job requirements
Another added piece of the story. I was also told they didn’t hire females for many years because the previous manager would in the general managers words (try to sleep with them).
Anyway any insight, I’m not planning on doing anything with the information it’s more informative on my part so I can possible adjust their thinking if not being a fat person is illegal.
