Lady Is Trying To Steal My Cats??

Card image cap

location: indiana

Hiya. throwaway for obvious reason, but here's the long grueling situation;

My partner and I have been stuck with essentially an illegal subletter allowed in by the other two people on the lease. She willingly took 90% of her belongings out, so we we're hoping to keep this civil, calm, and quick...however this lady i hypothesized is a narcissist. She must always be right, and is willing to drag people we dont even know into it if it means she has "backing". During the day she was moving her things out, she attempted taking two cats who are legally my mother's but I have adopted (vet bills are under my mother's name, partner and I pay for any expenses. I paid for the vet, but my mother had to take them at that current time). We calmly told her absolutely not. She ran outside to get a man (supposedly her husband?) And they both came in screaming (sadly didnt get evidence of this, as I have trauma with men and screaming so I wasnt processing, and at this moment my partner was getting ready to call 911.) Saying that we have no right to them, theyre hers, yadda yadda. This led me to look into getting a protection order, and we're looking to get everything printed for that tomorrow, but i suppose wed like the internet reassurance on this.

For harassment;

This woman has been an ongoing issue for us; but due to it not being "our" agreement(legally yes I understand since we are on the same lease we are held partially responsible, however my partner and I NEVER agreed for her to be here. The other two leasees are out of state for work), we kept it as civil as possible. We have quite literally had to barricade our doors out of fear due to her knowing the electronic door codes(currently trying to get them changed). We just want any advice for this case, reassurance, tips, anything really. She is planning to show up tomorrow with police to demand them back, which of course we have vet documents, however I am more so worried to be home alone and her not bring police. Am I within my rights to deny her entry until police show up? All of her items are in a blocked off room that is connected to our front room, so if I had to let her in the rest of the house is fairly blocked off. I, personally, just do not feel safe around this woman or anyone she decides to being with her. I need to know everything!! im a nervous stressed wreck just trying to protect my family and myself, and im not super well versed in the legality of everything especially because I know this would technically be a domestic dispute other than the harassment claims, but I also want to ensure this order goes through as for harassment protection orders in my state only deliver relief after a hearing typically.
