Landlord Came Onto Rental House And Destroyed My Monstera

Card image cap

Location: Fresno, CA

There is a neighborhood trash curb pickup twice a year. Residents put trash out and the city hauls it away for free. In this house there are 5 tenants who all rent rooms separately from one another. There is no lease. I have been renting here for around three years.

Today, the landlord's wife and her nephew came onto the property to do some pruning so the debris could be put on the curb with the other stuff and hauled away on Tues.

Aside from the trees on the lawn in the front and backyard, I have a number of my own plants in pots around the property. They are aware of this and it has never been an issue. Anyway, today, my landlord's wife pruned nearly every branch and every leaf of my very large monstera, which has been growing out front for several years. She basically destroyed it. I mean, it would have been obvious to her that that's what she was doing. She knows that it's my plant. She did not ask me or tell me that she was going to do this, and in doing this I'm sure she effectively killed the plant. I'm not sure what I paid for it, but it was years old and had sentimental value. Do I have any recourse?

ETA: she also appears to have heavily pruned my king sago, but I don't know if it was enough to kill it.
