Lease Termination

wondering if anyone can answer my question about terms of lease termination. Any advice from someone who has dealt with this or is/knows an attorney who would know about this would be very helpful.
I rent from a local rental company and my husband & i are buying a house. We got through inspections and decided it was time to put in our notice to vacate on our rental. We submitted it on Dec 9, and told them we wanted to leave the premises on Feb 11. The lease states that we are to pay rent for the duration of the 60 days notice AND an early termination fee equal to 1 month’s rent since we are ending our lease before it was up. We are fine with this and expected it. The manager comes back and tells us that we are responsible for FULL month’s rent for January and February- both entire months. I came back with saying the lease states that it’s 60 days from notice to vacate, not a full two months rent. So it should be prorated for February, as according to our lease, i am not responsible for any money outside of that 60 day period besides that early termination fee.
Am i wrong? The lease i signed and agreed to said 60 days. It doesn’t specify that we would be responsible for the full two months, regardless of what exact date the notice was put in on. Any insight will be helpful!
