Location: Hawaii. Can I Be Evicted Due To Constant Noise Complaints?
I’m a single working mom of 2 kids ages 9 and 7. My kids are fairly well behaved but they play, argue and laugh like normal kids. We moved in to our apartment complex 5 months ago and since then we’ve gotten numerous noise complaints from different neighbors. They’re saying my kids are playing too loud and running, but it’s not unreasonable noise and any time they begin to run I tell them to stop. I’ve gotten padded rugs just to minimize noise and constantly tell my kids to keep it down when they do get loud.
My kids are up from 7am-8pm. We live in Hawaii. I work 8-5 and their babysitter picks them up from school and drops them off, and often times watches them until I get home.
Yesterday our new downstairs neighbor came up to my door in a rage slamming my screen door and yelling about the noise, saying she had the landlord come to hear the footsteps of my kids walking and playing. I’m worried we’re going to be evicted. I have very little support and money as it is. It says in the lease that there’s not to be excessive noise but I don’t think that’s what this is.
I will add that other neighbors have talked to me about being bullied here due to the noise they make and they empathized with me. Very thin walls unfortunately
