Location: Montana. Can An Employer Threaten To Sue Me For Something I Did After I Got Fired?

I was fired about a month ago from a small retail business after a scheduling miscommunication. A coworker called in sick, management wasn't properly notified, and somehow the blame was shifted onto me.

A couple of weeks after being let go, I posted an honest review on Glassdoor and Google about my experience working there. In the review, I mentioned poor management practices, safety issues (like poorly mounted shelving units in the backroom that had previously fallen), and low product quality. Everything I stated was completely truthful.

Yesterday, I received a formal letter from the owner's attorney claiming that my review constitutes defamation and tortious interference with their business. They are demanding that I immediately remove all online reviews and sign a non-disparagement agreement, or they will proceed with a lawsuit for damages.

I never signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or a non-disparagement clause while employed there. Can they actually win a defamation suit against me for sharing my truthful experience as a former employee?
