Missing Person Case

What happens when the police goes for a welfare check but can’t locate the missing person? It’s been 10 days that a friend is missing (we’re online friends), and a missing person report has been filed. I don’t know the police procedures in California, but I feel the police haven’t taken the case seriously. I called and asked about the case and they said he is still missing but we believe there’s nothing to worry about.

The person who has filed the missing report has an old beef with the missing individual, and I feel he had filled the police with false information.

He doesn’t share much information and only spreads speculations or his personal opinion about this missing guy and the developments around his disappearance.

He keeps insisting that the missing person has mental health issues and he’s gone away for some time. But I don’t believe this, the missing individual case is much more complex; he’d been receiving threats for his political activism. People don’t take this seriously, they think he made up the threats to get attention, and no one believes me for complicated reasons.

There are more details about the case, but this is the overall. I don’t know what I can do. I have a strong feeling that something has happened to this friend.
