Mobile Home Park
LOCATION: UTAH
Not sure if this is the right place to ask for advice but I thought I’d give it a shot. If there’s a better subreddit to post, please redirect me. Husband and I live in a mobile home park and we own our mobile home. There’s around 40 mobile homes in this park and we pay $450 a month for our lot. The guy who manages here is not a great manager and is pretty unfair, treating everyone differently and letting some bend the rules. About a month ago, a neighbor of ours came knocking to our door with a petition he was going to send to the owners of the park to remove the current manager and replace him. We were a bit iffy but decided speaking up was better than nothing. Fast forward to today, the manager comes to our door and tells us if we had any complaints or anything because he saw that we signed the petition and he thought it wasn’t fair for us to sign. He said he’s equal with everyone and we shouldn’t have signed. We’ve never broken any rules here, we keep our space clean and cause no disturbances. He said to everyone that signed he’s increasing the rent to $500. If we were to send him a statement that we were manipulated into signing the petition he would “forgive” us and leave our rent alone. He also mentioned he gave a 3 day notice to who started the petition. I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with twins and this has put us in a stressful situation (even though I know we got ourselves into this and should probably have not signed the petition) Is there anything we can do to avoid being kicked out? Should we send the statement? Feeling very lost and grateful for ANY advice.
