Mom Is Threatening To Sue For Failure To Pay And Fraud Over Patent Plus Loans.

Location: Washington

Greetings,

My mother just sent a threatening message saying that she’s planning to take legal action due to me not upholding a “verbal agreement” and is also claiming I did fraud for Parent Plus Loans while I was in college. She is claiming that I’m refusing to pay on the loan as I allegedly went back on our agreement when she’s legally obligated to pay on the Parent Plus Loan and claiming that she didn’t sign for the other. Concerning the fraud allegation, I never have her personal information, whereabouts, nor could my 19 year old brain process two Parent Plus Loan applications to have fraudulently signed for her. Both Parent Plus Loans were known and acknowledged by both parties as she did the entire process both times.

I believe this is stemming from some sort of attention deficit as I am not in communication with her. Long story short she’s a control freak, verbally abusive narcissist and used my older brothers passing during covid and her “grief” to further her manipulation and abuse. I have not spoken to her since early-2022 when she kicked me and my brothers out and didn’t attend my college graduation (she later played victim and told family that I didn’t allow her to come). The message was sent to me via my younger brother and is not the first time she used him as a middleman to guilt trip and now threaten me. This also means I never made a payment on the Parent Plus Loans since we are not in contact with each other and had no knowledge of the loans repayment.

Here’s some additional information that may help the discussion:
• I am not in the same state as my Mother.

• There is no written document on said verbal agreement.

• No actual legal action taken (to my knowledge).

Thoughts and suggestions as to addressing the threats and potentially this case within court?
