My Apartment Was Nearly Broken Into This Morning, What Am I Allowed To Ask Of My Leasing Office In Terms Of Increasing Security?

Hi, I(22M) am living in an apartment in Arizona with my fiance. We just moved into this apartment ~2 months ago and have had no issues, and actually quite enjoyed our new place until this morning.

At about 7:45 we were loudly awakened to a stranger BANGING on the bedroom window rapidly. It didn’t seem quite like they were trying to break the window so much as rouse my attention, but they were very loud and It seemed like he could have broken them. He then moved on after a minute or two and began to bang on the glass sliding door that leads to my living room.

At this point I had gotten up because I was half convinced it was a maintenance guy trying to get my attention and went out my door to confront this person, and made eye contact with some random shirtless stranger. I was almost immobilized just as the reality of what might happen was hitting me, but I managed to tell him to stop and that I was calling the cops and immediately went back inside and locked the door. This also reminded me that my porch is surrounded on all sides by walls that are ~6 feet tall, so this guy had to have climbed over those in order to access the windows, which really freaked me out. He stopped the banging, but just decided to crash on my patio chair instead and was still there when the cops rolled up like 8 minutes later and removed him.

He apparently claimed he thought that my apartment belonged to a friend of his, but I don’t buy that for a second because he fully saw me and still didn’t leave after I told him off, and he sorta half assed apologized to me as the cops walked him out of my apartment. The cops left with him(not detained just escorting him) and didn’t really say much or ask too many questions, and i had just woken up so i was still pretty foggy and was not at all in the headspace to know what to do in my situation.

I went to my leasing office later in the day to report what had happened and they said they would reach out to the police with my case number and try to get the guy trespassed and see if there can be any formal charges/bans they can place on him, but me and my fiancé just don really feel very safe right now.

Sorry to ramble, but my main question is, what am I allowed to ask my leasing office to provide in order to make my place more secure? In a perfect world I would have them fix all the gates so they shut properly, make sure the gate to the parking lot(which is always open and allows easy access to all the apartments even though there is an app we use to open gates in other parts of the complex) closes at least at night, get more cameras and have some sort of decorative spikes or something on the top of my porch walls to prevent deter people from climbing into it. Is my complex legally/financially responsible for any of this? What are my rights in my position? I am only a substitute teacher and my finance doesn’t make too much money right now either, so moving and/or buying a bunch of security equipment isn’t really an option, at least at the moment.

What are my rights, what are the responsibilities of my complex, and what are some steps I can take right now?
