My Boss’ Wife Is Stealing Tips And Making The Workplace Unsafe

Location: Alberta, Canada

I work as a server/bartender/retail assistant at a golf course. My boss is the son of the owner, and his wife used to be our manager. She comes into the shop, announces she is now working (she doesn’t clock in on our time-keeping system), and then will go and sit in the restaurant to get drunk. She brings her infant and toddler in with her and allows the toddler to run around behind the bar and in the kitchen. She’ll also bring them on the beverage cart to serve alcohol to patrons, serve alcohol behind the bar with the baby in her arms, etc. Then, she will collect an equal share of our tips and take them.

Her kids being in here have almost caused tons of accidents, we have to be insanely careful to make sure they don’t get bumped by one of us, by a door opening/closing, make sure they don’t get stuck in the walk-in, and it’s genuinely exhausting.

I brought up the issue once to a coworker after a particularly long day, and was confronted by boss’ wife the next day (the entire staff group knows she illegally listens to our conversations via the cameras in the shop) and tried to intimidate me out of talking about it again, and then made me scrub calcified urine off of urinals.

I don’t know how to report this or deal with it for the rest of the season, I hate that she’s making me do disgusting jobs that I never signed up to do out of revenge(?)
