My Ex Boyfriend Refuses To Pick Up His Firearm After The Breakup (md)

Location: Maryland (Allegany County)

My ex and I just broke up, and the only important item he left at my place is his gun. The gun is registered in his name in North Carolina (where he lives). He is refusing to pick it up from me unless I let him inside my apartment to stay with me.

He said yesterday morning that he would be coming to retrieve it that night. Later yesterday evening, I follow up and ask when he will be arriving so that I could inform him that I do not want to talk to him in person when he gets here, let alone allow him inside, and that his items will be outside of my door waiting for him when he arrives. He then tells me he’s not getting it that night anymore because I did not talk to him all day… I asked him when he would be coming and he said tomorrow.

Tomorrow comes. I ask him today when he’s coming. He tells me that he wants his stuff, but that he wants to leave it at my place because “that’s where it should be.” I tell him that’s not happening. He then told me point blank- “if I’m not staying then I don’t need to come.” I said okay, and then blocked him. I am really worn down from his constant games and manipulation, and did not want to engage further.

Obviously I do NOT want to keep this firearm in my possession.

What are my options to get it out of my possession? I refuse to let him into my apartment again.

I am scared he is going to call the police on me claiming I have possession of his legal firearm. I am also scared to involve the police in an attempt to hand over the weapon, as I fear getting in trouble for having a firearm in my possession that is not registered in my name or state.

Please help!!! Any advice appreciated
