My Recent Incident

Card image cap

Hello, All

  • Location: Iowa.

While on a run recently, I was struck by a vehicle while running through a crosswalk.

A few important things

  • The vehicle had a stop sign.
  • The vehicle was around 10 MPH at the time of the collision and was likely going to make a California stop at the stop sign.
  • I busted up my knee from the impact of rolling off of the vehicle into the street.
  • It was raining that day, and my AirPods got ruined.
  • I went to the hospital and got X-rays.
  • I'm currently not working anywhere, so I don't need time off.
  • I created a police report.
  • I have the driver's phone number and insurance information.

Wanted to know

  • Am I responsible for the ambulance bill?
  • Am I responsible for the hospital bill?
  • Can I get a new pair of AirPods that I didn't pay for? (i.e., through his insurance?)
  • I've been discharged from the hospital with my bruised-up knee. What do I do now? (I consistently run about 8 miles a week, so this will put a halt to that)
  • When do I contact his insurance?
  • What should I ask for when I contact his insurance?

I'm gonna let this post mature for about an hour, but I will read the responses and reply the best I can.
