Neighbor Says They're Making Street Parking Private?
Location: western New York. TL:DR Neighbors saying public street parking is their private parking due to a permit aquired for their autistic child. Is that even a thing? I feel like that's not a thing.
I live in Western NY. My neighbors directly across the street told my roomate we aren't "allowed" to park in the spot in front of our houses anymore because it's theirs for their disabled child, something about getting on and off the school bus. I don't know exact words, roomate texted me the gist.
Now they have an autistic 7yr old. I only know this because their child has walked into my house numerous times, destroyed my living room and raided my fridge. I've had to call the police twice at 7am because they wouldn't answer their door to come get their kid. My also-autistic roomate has trouble remembering to lock the door when she leaves, we definitely learned our lesson cause of this kid.
My neighbors have a nice big driveway that can easily fit 5 cars. I don't have a driveway. I also have a heart condition, so usually I snag that parking spot closest to my house. I work nights so I'm typically parked there all day, every day. I've consistently had issues with these neighbors, and I feel like this is just another way for them to start stuff. I don't see how they can get some "permit" to claim street parking when they literally have a driveway.
Now, I've called the local police departments non-emergency to ask, they said that the neighbors can't do that. Buuuut cops aren't legal experts, definitely not -insert small rez name- cops. So I figured I'd ask yall.
Sorry for using this to mostly complain, hopefully someone gets a kick out of the drama.
