Neighbor Throws Soda On My Car On Public Parking Repeatedly

Card image cap

Location: Garden Grove, CA

I live in a neighborhood with public parking within a cul de sac. My friends or I occasionally park my car in front of his house on public parking due to limited parking space.

He put notes on my car saying his grown 23 year old daughter is afraid of people parking there over night despite us parking there at latest 11.

He now throws soda/milk shakes on any cars that park there overnight. I have multiple videos of him doing it at least 3 times with his face and him coming from his house.

I told police but they said they can’t do anything since there are no damages even if it’s repeated behavior targeted at me.

I do not know what I could do except concede, retaliate by doing it back to his house or car, or go to civil court and pay a fee for ultimately nothing. Based on my research for any real action it would cost me more than the trouble.

Is there anything I could do? I do not think it is right for him to do this when I am just parking. I was hoping for a way to fine him but it seems like it’s big trouble or nothing.

Edit: I understand the option of an RO but it cost 430 for a non violence one. I am hoping I will get reimbursed by offender but I am unsure they allow that.
