Neighbors Construction Business

Card image cap

Location: Missouri

The last two years have been literal hell.

I guess in 2021, a few years after moving here, the neighbor next to me started their construction/retaining wall business.

However, things didn’t get loud until summer 2024, when I guess they hired some people who reside there and more who begin their day around 5am.

Last year, they started moving large machinery to the property, and dumping in the lot right next to my house. Their trucks are loud, often idling for hours, and I hear slamming nearly every day.

I live in an unincorporated residential neighborhood without an HOA.

I’m not sure what to do, but is there anything I could possibly do about this situation, someone who has been through similar, or knows the law…?

The lot where they dump is right next to my big gardens, which is my passion and a part of my small business, but I barely gardened last year because of them.

Every morning at 5am, they speed their big loud trucks with clunking trailers up and down our small street.

On top of this, they will blast loud bass music, often until 4am, and I get poor/little sleep over the warmer months.

I want to sell my home eventually, but my nervous system is so frayed these days, I feel uncomfortable going outside on my property to work on it and my house.

It’s also tough to do so financially right now, and I like that I own my house without a mortgage. ????

I also worry I won’t be able to sell the home with all of this going on next door.

Advice? I live alone, and don’t have much help. ????
