Neighbors Dog Came Into My Garage. I Walked The Dog Back To Neighbors House And Now They Are Saying I Hit Their Dog.

Location: Texas

On the 12th my neighbors across the street accidentally left their gate open and their dog got out. I was sitting in my car eating and saw the dog go into my garage. Its a husky and appeared to be friendly. At first I just waited for it to go away and just kept eating in my car, but the dog was looking at me and wasnt leaving.

So I just got out and gently let the dog smell my hand. It was cautious but ended up being friendly. The dog ran off and ran into the open gate across the street. I thought that was the end of it but he came back out and started sniffing me again.

I just walked over across the street knocked on thier door and the surprised home owners thanked me and that was that.

Or so I thought. Today they came over and said that I punched and kicked their dog and they want me to pay several hundred for the vet bill.

They said they have video proof of this, did not show it, and said they had to pay 800 for the vet.

Im thinking its a scam. I do have the dog coming over on video, can show still images of the dog in my driveway and garage. Can barely see me in my car eating as well. Just wondering should I get a lawyer or wait an see as this sounds like a scam to me. If I did do what they said, and they had video of it, then I would probably be in jail for animal abuse.
