No Will, What Rights?

Card image cap

Location: Kentucky

My parent is in hospice and has no will. My entire life I've been told that their collection will be mine, because they started it a little after I was born. My parent lives with their brother and the brother has started claiming that some of the collection goes to him. My entire family can testify about the statements of it being left to me and I am only concerned about making sure that my parent's wishes are followed through and respected. What can I do? What rights do I have? How can I make sure that those rights are respected? I'm in my early 30s and I have never experienced anything like this.

I'm worried that now at this point of medication and exhaustion that writing a will would be considered "not done in sound mind", and the idea that the collection is split only came up after hospice treatment started. I'm unsure if the collection being stored in the brother's house makes it automatically his. This is an antique collection with monetary value, and I don't know if that changes things. My parent is able to communicate.

I'm avoiding specifics because I want to be anon.

Edit: Edited to add that a current worry is that the entire collection will be claimed by the brother. If my parent wishes to have it split; then my parents wishes will be respected. I just have a reasonable suspicion that it will not be split at all.
