Pedestrian On E-scooter Vs Car

Card image cap

Location: Rhode Island

This morning when I was pulling out of a lot, a young man on an e-scooter clipped the very front of my car. He was not injured, he declined exchanging information - wouldn’t even tell me his name. It seemed he was more worried about my car which I ensured him was NOT of concern and the main concern was his well being. I offered multiple times to give him my info or to call someone and he declined. Kept saying it’s all good, no worries. He even said it was his fault because he was going too fast but I know as the one in the car it is my responsibility to be extra aware of pedestrians.

I am planning on going to the police station to file a report to cover in case he later has an injury or decides to report, I had called the non emergency line directly after he left and that was their advice.

Is there anything else I should do in this situation to cover myself? This is a very new experience for me and one I hope to never repeat, any advice is appreciated.
