Police Had Wrong Address And Gained Entry To My Home While I(f) Was Sleeping.

Location: NJ
Local police department was responding to a medical alarm for a woman who was having a stroke. Instead of going to her address, they spent 20 minutes waiting for maintenance to let them into my apartment without my knowledge. I was asleep and my 1year old daughter was also sleeping in the same room when I woke up to them banging on my bedroom door. Maintenance didn’t enter the apartment with the police, just gave them access and left. Without going into too much detail, I had PTSD at the time of this happening (and present) and my home was the only place that felt safe. This happened in 2024 but everything is documented with my therapist and shows the severity of how this affected me. I finally got the body cam footage and started an official complaint. I just got the letter in the mail a few days ago saying that the complaint is sustained and they found the police dispatcher at fault. I’m wondering what can be done. I know a lot of time has passed but I really couldn’t talk about it until recently and even during the internal affairs police investigation it was extremely hard to talk without getting emotional. I also have recordings of my apartment complex, and the police chief all admitting fault and saying that they apologize. Is it worth reaching out to a lawyer for a consultation? Or is the timeframe pretty much over. I get that there are time constraints but it doesn’t really seem reasonable when I wouldn’t have been able to talk about it without making my health worse. I appreciate any feedback and sorry if this isn’t a worthy post. I’ve just never had to go through this avenue before.
Thanks for any help.
