Police Presence At Home

Location: Nashville, TN
Last night the local police showed up at my house with guns drawn asking if I had a daughter (I do, she’s 4), saying someone had called the suicide hotline and threatened suicide by cop and gave our address. I told them that was impossible as my daughter is 4 and asleep. They asked if there were any other females in the house, and I said yes, my wife, and they asked a couple more questions and then retreated. My wife came out and we gave them our names which didn’t match the name of the person they were looking for, but they did confirm they gave our address. They looked around the neighborhood for about 10 minutes and left.

I’m a bit shaken up and worried about what could have happened if we didn’t answer the door (we were in the basement and only realized they were there because of our Ring doorbell… couldn’t hear them knocking). They seemed ready to bust in and sometimes things don’t go so well when cops go to the wrong house. At a minimum it would have terrorized my daughter. I’m also concerned for the person who made the call, if maybe their address was misinterpreted. Seems like a serious call to show up to the wrong house for.

They said they don’t know the phone number that made the call, they only gave us the person’s first name and that they gave our address. Is there any way, and any good reason, to hold someone accountable for this? The officers that showed up were very nice and professional. But someone either gave the wrong info or took the info down wrong. There were no damages other than my being shaken up. Is there anything I should do?
