Stored Property (michigan, Usa)

Hello! My wife and I are currently in the process of moving and selling our house with only one issue. A family member has a lot of property stored on our detached garage and they have, despite many requests to remove the items, refused to remove them stating that the garage belongs to them since they once owned the house and never changed their legal mailing address.

They have never once resided in the house, they have no keys to the house and only have property stored in the garage. Property includes; car parts, a junk car frame, furniture, a grill, and various rugs, and shelving units. They state that the property and address is enough to declare that they own that area even though it is only my wife and I name on the deed.

Upon the most recent request to remove his property, he came after we had left and damaged a ring camera and a solar light affixed to the garage, stating again on camera that it is his garage. He then placed an unauthorized pad lock on the garage door, limiting our access to the garage.

Both incidents of the destruction of property and the padlock have been reported to our local police department.

I have tried reaching out to many real estate lawyers about this and they have offered no help due to the nature of what is happening and couldn't provide what steps I need to take next.
