Private Seller Decided They Were Unhappy With The Price They Sold At And Threatened Court.

On Facebook Marketplace, I found a listing for a collection of toy figurines.

I contacted the seller and arranged to meet in a public space. During the interaction, I explained to the seller that I do not have a lot of money, but I am interested in a lot of the collection.

Some of the larger individual figurines in the collection are of greater financial value than the others. I explained that I could not afford those larger models, and suggested that the seller keep those larger figurines, and sell them online, where they (the seller) would be able to demand an appropriate premium for them.

The seller and I then discussed pricing for other parts of the collection. Referencing a history of online listings for those smaller figurines, and accounting for an agreed-upon bulk discount, we negotiated a price of $1200 for what I wanted from the collection. I again suggested the seller either take the larger units online to sell them, or keep those larger figurines for their (the seller's) self, for the sake of nostalgia.

We completed two Zelle transactions. The first, for $0.01, to ensure the information for the transfer was correct. Once this was confirmed, a second Zelle transaction was made where I sent $1200.00 to the seller, and they confirmed they had received it.

I then put what I had purchased from the collection in my car, the seller drove away, and I drove away.

Later that evening, the seller contacted me on Facebook Messenger saying that they had "made a big mistake and should've checked prior," but that for what I bought the price would be double what I paid, and requested that we work out a deal for a different price.

I did not respond to this, as the transaction had been completed with an agreed-upon price. Additionally, while I had doubts regarding the seller's assumption that the price should have been doubled, I wanted to check for myself to see if, for the sake of being friendly, I should offer to send any more money.

I spent much of that evening looking up global listings for the individual figurines I purchased from the seller. I created a list for myself of each unit, along with prices for listed units with descriptions matching the condition (many of them complete and well looked-after) of them. Adding them together, I found that I would be comfortable offering the seller an additional $50 or maybe $75.

I still did not respond to the seller, however, as I had a long day at work the following day and I wanted to be able to commit the time to the interaction that I felt it deserved. When I arrived home from work the following day, I went to open my messages from the seller, and saw that the seller had sent me a message stating that if they did not hear from me that day, they would start a claim in court, and again demanded that I contact them.

So I was prepared to offer the seller more money, but after seeing the legal threat I decided it would be against my best interest to communicate with them further. I documented the messages I had received from the seller and blocked their Facebook account.

Indeed, I would say that during the actual transaction, I had made efforts to look out for the seller's best interest as well, with my advice to seek online purchasers for the larger, more expensive units. Moreover, during that transaction, I identified some materials mixed in with what I was purchasing which I believed to be *part of* those larger units, and ensured that the seller kept those materials.

So my question is:

With it being a private sale between two individuals, with a verbal negotiation & agreement on price and goods sold, conducted in a public space, with bank tranfers understood by both parties to be successful... And with that transaction being complete, the seller contacting me again because they had decided they did not like the price they agreed to sell at and accepted the money for, does that seller have any legal standing to pursue me in court?

Additionally, are there any preparations or actions I should take in order to protect myself, should that seller decide to file a complaint?
