Psychiatrist Lied About Pricing, Signed Agreements Without Me Reading Them
Location: Texas
Just had an appointment yesterday with a psychiatrist I’d been seeing for close to a year now. It is over video calls. My card didn’t go through last session, so I gave a new one and was charged $100. I got a new insurance to use instead of self pay. He uses a website called headway to charge if you’re using insurance. He put in all my information and said I’d be paying $45 from now on with the new insurance. I woke up this morning to a charge of $200 more on top of the $100 yesterday. I look on the website and see that forms were agreed to without me being able to read them first. Forms for things such as benefits and payment terms. I’m completely lost on steps to take here as this seems more illegal than anything else. I’m currently trying to get ahold of the psychiatrist but was wondering if there was anything else I could do. TIA
To note: we were using a different website for self pay and for when I was on my family’s insurance. A large therapy platform but it refused to take my new insurance so that’s why a different website was used.
