Questionable Debt Lawsuit
Location: Pennsylvania
Ok I’ll try to be as thorough as I can here. We live in Pennsylvania. My wife ode got a call from a number 855-260-0857. They claimed they have legal proceedings pending unless she settles and pays a debt. Which sounds like anything a collection agency would do, but it gets odd here. The place is named east and they won’t give me an address. They want to push 2 charges on her for breach of contract and intent to deceive. She had an Acima account that got behind for 800. We forgot about it because of life. Never got any notices in the mail.
The Acima debt was charged off and sold to a collector who then sold it to another collector. Then east said they purchased the contract. I am unsure how they can say breach of contract when it was charged off and sold. I’m just confused here.
I have until the 3rd to get things figured out according to them or they are going to send the paperwork over to the county. This just sounds fishy to me and I’m not sure where to turn. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
