Questions, Roommate Suddenly Decides To Try To Kick Me Out And Texted Me Saying He Moved All Of My Stuff To The Garage While I Was Out Of Town For Work. (utah)
Location: Layton, Utah.
My roommate and I moved into a townhouse a little over 3 weeks ago. We moved in about the same time. I am not on the lease, however I have been getting packages delivered there and the Xfinity WiFi is in my name only.
He got upset that I had a friend over, basically. Now he is demanding that I leave immediately and trying to start something constantly. He did not give me a 30 day notice.
Yesterday I went out of town for work for the day. He sent me a long text message which basically said that he changed the locks and moved all my stuff and my son’s stuff to the garage?
What are my rights here? I’m not on the lease but I’ve been living there as long as he has and I have a utility (internet) in my name there as well as have had packages delivered there. Under the law dont I have 30 days to find somewhere else to live in this situation?
I’m about to come home for the first time since he texted yesterday and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to call the police if I am locked out and my stuff is moved like he says it is… thanks
