Received Letter From An Attorney About Ex Contesting Restraining Order From Violent Incident 5 Years Ago Ma
Location: Massachusetts
I'm absolutely hysterical right now. He is filing to dismiss the abuse prevention order. He is claiming he wasn't served in jail when I renewed the original order in 2023(?) therefore his right to contest it was violated. He pled guilty to felony kidnapping, assault and battery on a household member, and threat to commit a crime in 2023(?) as well (I think. I may be off by a year on the years as this was a horribly traumatic event for me and the time blends together). He held me against my will for 20+ minutes while he beat and verbally abused me and threatened to k*ll me and my dog. In October 2025 I renewed the restraining order for 5 years, and now almost half a year later he's suddenly fighting it with a private attorney?? I'm trying to get the 911 tape in my possession because it was my whole case and why he got jail time as a first offender. It's a very damning 15m+ long recording of me begging him to let me go and him just hitting me (which you can't see obviously) and saying horrid things. I am also reaching out to my therapist to provide a letter detailing the PTSD, fear, and anxiety this continues to cause me. Is there anything else I need? I'm absolutely beside myself that he's paying a new lawyer and forcing me to relieve this all over again and see him. I apologize for the lengthy post but I felt it was all relevant. Literally any advice will help as I don't know what I'll do if he succeeds in vacating this, I have two kids now and I'm so scared.
