Resigned Within A Week – Need Advice On Notice Period And Asset Return
Hi everyone,
I recently joined a company and worked there for about a week. Due to personal reasons, I decided to resign shortly after joining and informed them accordingly.
Location: India The offer mentions a 90-day notice period, and I understand that in general cases it is applicable. However, I am unsure how it is typically handled when the tenure is extremely short (around a week).
Another concern is regarding company assets. I have been trying to return the company laptop and have already informed them via email that I am ready to hand it over immediately. However, I was told that it can only be submitted after completion of the notice period.
I want to make sure I handle this situation properly and responsibly.
I would really appreciate guidance on the following:
- How is notice period usually treated in such short-tenure scenarios?
- What is the safest way to return company assets if there is a delay or dependency from the employer’s side?
- How should one generally handle exit formalities to avoid any future issues?
If anyone has gone through a similar situation or has knowledge about standard practices, your advice would really help.
Thanks in advance.
