Second Degree Burns All Over My Hand From Job

About two and a half weeks ago while I was working for a fast food restaurant, I suffered second degree burns all over the back of my hand.
To give a little context: I was working with the industrial sized coffee machines. There was a black plastic filter with a handle which you slide out and place the paper filter and grounds into. Slide the black filter back into place, start the brew. When the brew ends and all the hot water is drained, only then is the metal rod on the machine which locks the filter in place (so you can’t accidentally take it out when it’s filled) is supposed to to lift and you can take out the filter to dump it.
I worked there for almost a year. I did the same thing every day. I never had an issue with any of those machines. There were three in the store, two of which were being constantly fixed.
The day it happened, I did not start the brew. But I was there when the machine started beeping, telling me to empty the filter. I go to grab it and slide it out. There was hot water and coffee grinds filled exactly to the brim of the filter I didn’t see. It went all up my arm.
I went to went urgent care that night. Got put on ibuprofen, antibiotics and anti inflammatories.
I was back at work two days later (took one day off then had a scheduled day off). I am not exactly what days these comments were made or if they were on the same day. Once the GM asked me, “did you not feel how heavy the filter was?” Then another time, she said “I’m not sure how it happened (referring to the incident) but it could be the new paper filters we just got. Just put two in there from now on.”
It’s two weeks later or about, I’m still healing. Mentally, I’m not okay either.
I just wanted to see if I had a case here? If I could get compensated for the urgent visits, the medicines, and all the wrapping and bandages I’m paying for out of my own pocket?
