Several Month Delay Of Workman's Comp Payment(i Have Been Approved)

Card image cap

Location: Indiana

I’ve been off work for over 3 months because of an injury I got at work. I hired a workers’ comp attorney during the first week I was off, and I’ve been told for months now that my claim has been approved.

The problem is, I still have not received a single workers’ comp payment.

I had thousands of dollars saved up when this started, but after more than 3 months with no income, that money is gone. I’m now late on rent and genuinely have no idea what I’m supposed to do.

The only person I’ve really been able to speak with at my attorney’s office is the attorney’s assistant. For more than 6 weeks, I’ve repeatedly been told that I should be receiving my back-pay check “very soon,” but nothing has come.

I leave one or two messages a week and always explain that this is becoming an emergency, but I usually only hear back about once every 3 weeks.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out whether this kind of delay is normal, whether there is something else I should be doing, or whether I should be more concerned about how my case is being handled.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? If your workers’ comp claim was approved but payments were delayed for months, what finally got things moving?

Any guidance will be very appreciated.

Thank you all
