My Wife's Boss Told Her That She Wasn't Allowed To Evacuate During An Active Shooting In Case They Reopened Afterward.

So i don't wanna give too much away since I'm sure this event would be easily found and the people involved would recognize it immediately, but I'll share what I can.

My wife is an assistant manager for a retail store in a mall. Over the weekend there was an active shooter at said mall. My wife had just got to work and was getting set up when people started running and screaming about someone shooting in the parking garage. My wife, the gm, and several associates and customers sheltered in the back room. Eventually mall security came and evacuated everyone out. At that point all they knew was there was an active shooter and everyone was to evacuate for their safety. The gm texted the district manager that they were being evacuated and the district told her that she and my wife were managers and therefore had to stay in the store in case the mall opened back up.

Shortly after that they were given the all clear and the mall reopened. My wife was pretty shook up by the whole thing and didn't feel comfortable going back in.

The district told the gm that my wife "can be over dramatic"

A couple days later the whole story came out. Apparently some young kids got into a fight, went to the garage and started shooting. No one was hurt besides a couple cars got some bullet holes. But no one knew that at the time.

My wife has since reported the dm to hr and resigned but telling your employees to return to a building where someone is shooting just to make a few more sales seems like blatant disregard for employee safety. This whole interaction took place over text and my wife has them saved. Is there any thing we can do besides reporting her to hr?
