Shop Kept My Car For 116 Days For An Engine Replacement And The Engine They Have Built Has Now Failed.

Location: Kansas / Illinois

TLDR is that I was told they'd have it done "in a couple weeks" and it took them 116 days (June 1st to September 25th) for them to get done with it. Sixty business days after taking delivery of the car they didn't even have the new engine in the vehicle.

Under 4000 miles after leaving the shop with the car, and in under 30 days, this brand new fully built engine now has (what looks to be bearing) glitter in the oil (again!) and gnarly lifter tick. This was over sixteen thousand dollars of performance engine components, and obviously everything that the oil needs to lubricate need to be looked at, and every cam, main, and crank bearing most likely need replacing. Just my bottom end assembly alone totals over $3600.

I've since been contacted by several people (three) that have told me about their similar experiences with this place.

Another told me the shop has had his car for over 2 years, and when I shared a picture of a few of the 47 cars this guy has to move in and out of his shop every night so he has space to work, the owner of that car pointed it out as a silver C5 corvette front and center in the photo.

Now from what I've been told, Illinois implied warranty (that's probably not the right wording) law says that I need to give the shop the opportunity to fix the issue themselves.

Obviously, I'm hesitant to send my car back to this place, both based on my experience and what others have been through. I don't want them to keep my car for another 100 some days, and I don't want the owner and his one employee to rush through switcheroo'ing my engine again and potentially fuck it up again, and I REALLY don't want to have to spend more money.

What do I even do? Where do I even start? I just want to be made whole again in a timely manner.
