Sister Is Getting Divorced And We Need Help With Understanding The Timeline

Card image cap

My sister lives in location: Georgia and is preparing to file for divorce against her husband. I've been doing the research for her because he checks her phone every day (we use SnapChat to communicate for her safety) and I'm in another state. It's 99% chance it will be uncontested and they don't have children, but they do have a mortgage on a house. He has said before in an argument that if they divorced, they'll sell the house.

I'm having trouble locating some information because in her county, the clerk isn't allowed to give any legal advice so we're kinda on our own since she can't afford a lawyer. She's going to file a poverty affidavit since she also can't afford to file for divorce.

My questions are: does the minimum 31 day wait start when he is served, which I'm assuming will be a few days after filing since the poverty affidavit will need to be reviewed, and will they be allowed to go ahead and try to sell the house during those 31 days so long as they both agree? Neither can afford the house on their own so she wants to sell it as soon as possible, he's also going away for a couple weeks in July for a military thing so he won't be reachable.
