Sold My Truck, Got My Money, But The Buyer Never Transferred The Title And Now I Got A Call From The Impound. What To Do?
Location: Kentucky
So a few months ago I decided to sell my old 1997 Toyota 4Runner as I didn't have much time to put into it and it needed to be fixed. I sold it to a guy for just $750 just to take it off my hands and, as someone who doesn't deal with selling cars often, assumed he would take care of the title as he himself told me after I asked about notarization to not worry about it (aka. he was alluding to going to a friend and getting it notarized without me present). He never did any of that. He sold it, all fixed up, to a guy whose name I am not aware of. It got impounded and I received something in the mail from USPS saying I missed a signature from an impound lot in Louisville KY. Called them up, they said I could come and get it for $580. Question is, should I just go get it and call it a day (which I wouldn't be against, I regret selling it and it seems like they didn't really care about it anyway), or do I be actually responsible and find out a legal way out of it? Thanks Reddit.
