Stalking Victim

Okay so I’m going to just dive right in, I’m being stalked and this has been happening for over the course of a year now.

Recently it has started to escalate to the point where he tried to break into my apartment and is lying to police when confronted.

I won’t get into details, but I’m here to ask for solutions to my problem. This creep lives in my building but not on my floor and has been lurking around on my floor until he found out where I lived, after that he tried to break into and stands next to the door for long periods of time.

I contacted police today and when I explained the situation he told me that he has done nothing illegal and he can’t do anything. When the cop asked him directly he lied and stated “he was a bodybuilder and he travels to each floor to exercise” complete lie given he’s always wearing work clothes (heavy manual labor clothes with metal not suitable at all for exercise) and is always on only my floor- I literally never see him anywhere else in the building, always on my floor near my door.

Fine, but I live with other people who he is a danger to, I have elderly parents and I’m almost certain this man is armed and willing to break into my apartment given his past behavior and the fact he is always messing with my door and items such as decorations on my door.

I have tried contact leasing and they are just as useless as the police, they also prohibit cameras on the outside of our doors so I can’t use that.

Moving isn’t an option for me now, and I’m running out of ideas, the cop suggested getting video footage of him but that’s difficult given he knows I am trying to report him so anytime he sees a camera he pretends to not follow me and as if he doesn’t know me.

And just to be clear me and him have never directly spoken, he has lied to multiple people stated I approached him and asked him for things which I never did.
