Staying At An Rv Park For 30+ Days. Is Giving My Ss & Tax Returns Normal? How Can I Protect My Privacy?

Location: California

This is my first time staying 30+ days at an rv park. I'm not familiar with this process.

When I called it was easy to book a reservation and they gave me the 30 day rate. They withdrew the full amount when I checked in. Then they said "Ooops GM actually requires more info for long term stays." Supposedly they've had issues with squatters. They refunded the full amount then charged the weekly amount. I've filled out forms with all of my info including social security #, copy of my trailer insurance, driver's license, employment/income info. I had a meeting with the GM who requested my tax returns/proof of income. I'm self-employed/sole proprietor. I sent my 2024 return, instead they want 2025 (tomorrow is tax day, I have an extension filed).

My understanding is I'm considered a tenant after 30 days and this process is similar to renting an apartment? However it's been well over a week of this dragging on, repeatedly having to go to the office to give more documents and sign more paperwork. If this is standard protocol I'm not understanding why this wasn't all done up front, or even explained to me while booking the reservation. I'm staying with a friend (separate spots) who has been coming here for years. He hasn't been asked to do the same process.

1) Is this a normal process for monthly RV park stays? Or normal in CA?

2) Now that they have my private info, how can I protect myself? Should they have a privacy policy outlining all of this? Or anything else I can request a copy of?
