Told I Have A "larceny" Warrant Of Some Sort For Not Paying Airport Parking. (charleston, Sc)

Location: South Carolina

Came back from a wildfire. Lost my parking ticket. Followed my buddy out the gate because the booth is unattended and there's no phone number to call. Tried calling the airport and they couldn't give me much information. The parking company just routed me through automated machines. Figured I'd get a bill in the mail at some point. It's only been ten days. Searching my vin on the citation page brings back nothing. Today, his mother-in-law picks someone up from the airport and gets pulled over and told we both need to turn ourselves in as we have warrants for our arrest for larceny.

He's talking about turning himself in and a lawyer today on a 24/7 quoted him $6,500. But he called airport pd and they said to just come down and he may not even be arrested. I told him absolutely not, they don't give a damn about you, absolutely DO NOT go anywhere in person and stop calling them.

How the hell is this so blown out of proportion? I work in healthcare I can't have a misdemeanor against me for larceny. Surely, something so stupid can't cost us EACH $6,500. I thought about self-representation but at the moment not a single court in the region has a case for us so I don't know what the hell is going on or what to do before lawyer shopping in the morning.
