Towed From A "restricted" Space
Location: San Diego, CA
The apartment building I have been living for the past 8 years has had these two parking spaces running parallel as soon as you pull in to the alley. A few months ago they resealed and repainted the parking lot. Prior to that, those spaces had a white dividing lines designating them as spaces. Now there is no lines, but everyone in the building still parks there as before.
Last week, I parked in one of those spaces in the morning, only to be towed 2-3 hours later. I went to the leasing office to ask why i was towed, and they said I was illegaly parked and was blocking access to the garages. I tried to argue that the space was previously designated as a valid space and I wasn't blacking anything, but the manager said "It was just bad luck i got caught, and just because everyone else parks there doesn't mean i should either".
I went out to tape measure, and the space i was at has 26 feet of clearance from the garage entrances, while the spaces that are currently marked have 16feet of clearance. There is no signage labling the area as restricted, and the curb to those spaces is not painted, where as in other areas of the property it is. From what I understand 3 of my neighbors got towed as well that day, but since then no one else has been towed from those spaces.
Am I SoL in this situation, or is there a way to get the $290 I had to pay for the tow back?
