Traffic Court

Card image cap

Hello everyone-

I recently got a speeding ticket and was told by a friend that the best way to deal with it is to show up to court in hopes the officer doesn’t show and/or to try for a potential reduction.

For context, the officer who pulled me over said he clocked me going 90+ on the freeway. I asked him if that was recorded on the radar to which he responded “I got you on everything” I was later told by the same friend that I should’ve asked to see the radar (I didn’t.) My question is, is it in my best interest to find some sort of traffic attorney or representative before I go to court on Thursday? Or is simply showing up by myself enough? I assume to plead guilty and try to obtain some sort of reduction? I’ve gotten a couple tickets in the past if that matters, but am currently struggling for money so any sort of deduction on this would help as it’s a 700 dollar ticket.

I know I shouldn’t have been speeding but it was a late night drive home with nobody on the freeway and I didn’t see the cop. You live and you learn. Any advice from anyone who’s had a similar situation?
