Unable To Afford Wage Garnishment
Location: Louisville, KY
I was just served a Notice of Rights to Assert Exemption to Wage Garnishment form, I have a previous credit debt from I believe 2023 that has been in collections and now it looks like they are going to garnish my wages. I am completely unable to afford any wage garnishment as I live totally paycheck to paycheck and I have no idea what to do. I was served this form on 10/29/2026 and from what I’ve gathered I have 14 days until they start it. I am young and dumb now and was even younger and dumber when I acquired this debt. Am I able to take any forms to the county clerk for a request for hardship? I believe I can prove how I can’t afford the garnishment from my bank statements, bills, and lease. The only other option I can think of is to try to pay the debt off by requesting a hardship loan from my 4013b savings but I’m not sure if it’ll even qualify or be processed in time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
