Uncle Bait And Switched Me On An Apartment That He Couldn’t Legally Rent Out
Last April I got a call to start a new career in a construction field, and I took it. Only problem was that most of my jobs, and schooling would be about 40 minutes away. So while I was looking for a new apartment closer to where I needed to be, my uncle said he had an apartment in a prime location, and I could move in. Only problem was is that the bathroom was gutted, but he would get it done before I moved in. A couple months later, I move in, and the bathroom wasn’t touched. He has an apartment he keeps for himself if he wants to stay cause he works 5 minutes away. So I have had to go upstairs to his apartment to use the bathroom/shower. This is not what we agreed upon. I have lived here for 10 months now, and I still don’t have a shower, and he is radio silent. This is not a big project, it’s a tiny bathroom. He now is refusing to show up, and do it. So legally what can I do? I’m not on a lease. He bait and switched me for an apartment he legally couldn’t rent out so he had money flowing in for it. I am livid at this point. I want payback. So who can I report this to? Can I sue for the rent I have paid him? Do I call code enforcement or something? I want to teach him a very valuable lesson, and hit him in the only thing he cares about, his wallet. Thank you!
