Understanding My Landlord’s Intentions

(Sorry that some details will be withheld. Ongoing legal stuff has me not wanting to be too identifiable)

I was recently evicted from my apartment due to a text message NOT sent to my landlord complaining about my landlord. My landlord claimed to their company’s attorneys I was planning to kill them (I assure you, I was not) and I was shocked that a text I sent a neighbor was being used to get me evicted. (The text said “if I have to go to the office I’ll kill her, so I’m just going to handle this shit via email” I was being hyperbolic)

I am building a case against them for wrongful eviction, and for emotional distress. However yesterday I received an email from the complex’s attorney stating I am not allowed to initiate conversation with, or respond to any current tenants still living at the apartment complex. My attorney has said that they do not believe that is something I should concern myself with as an apartment complex cannot dictate friendships. However I am panicked. I’m friends with people who still live there, and we talk about pop culture, pets, work etc. We don’t talk about my lawsuit because well…it’s depressing lol. I have never worked with my attorney before and I’m building trust with him, but I feel really keeps ignoring my concerns. Granted I’m emotional after losing my home, and getting constant emails implying I’m a murderer. The apartments attorneys screamed (yes screamed) at me on the phone when I called to find out what the eviction was about, and when I said I had no idea what they were talking about.

Can a landlord LEGALLY restrict former tenant communications with current tenants? I literally just want to gossip about SLOMW and the Lindsay Clancy trial. I don’t care who left their trash in the hall or what the landlord is doing. I just don’t want to lose my home AND my friends.
